I've started teaching my first Bible class! Although I've helped out before, I've never done it alone. Well, actually God is with me now, so I'm still not solo. :) The class needed a summer teacher, and since I won't have school in the summer, this is a good opportunity! They are 4 and 5 year olds. This is the bulletin board I put up:
You probably can't see it, but I have yarn push-pinned to the world, showing all cultures of children are loved by Jesus. It's simple, but they can understand it! I put it up one Friday night, and Trent went with me so I didn't have to be by myself at night. Not that a church building is dangerous, but anyway...he took World Geography last year, and had a great time poking fun at me making the globe. Apparently I left off Cuba and Hawaii and other places. My bad, people; God loves you, too! The lessons are centered around "Christ's Church Today." I have really been enjoying this--and learning, too.
Our lesson last week involved Jesus preaching and teaching. They had scrolls back then, so I made scrolls for the kids to take home. (My mom did that when she taught that class, so she helped me figure out how to do it!)
The memory verse for that week was written inside: "Listen to the word of the LORD..."-Hosea 4:1a. These are so fun! Also, my good friend Ginny came to worship with me, and she sat in the 4 & 5 year old class with me during Bible class hour. She got a scroll, too, and put it in her Senior Book. :')
We had a church camp meeting last Saturday evening, and I needed something fast and easy to make. I made mini muffins and put them in a basket. I kind of wanted to walk through the woods in a red-hooded cloak to get there, but it was, like, 30 minutes away...
Just thought these were cute. :)
One of the women in the church gave me a cute little cookie cutter SHAPED LIKE A CHICKEN! :D So, a.) I love to bake cookies, and b.) I love country things. So, here they are:
The cookie cutter had a dough recipe and an icing recipe tied to it, so I followed those. I think I baked them a little too long, but they tasted pretty good. I hope you can tell they are chickens. The icing kind of makes them not look like chickens. Hm.
We had Awards Day on Wednesday. It's really dark in our auditorium, but this picture actually turned out good. This is one of my great teachers/friends/mentors , Mrs. Little, and me:
I'm really, really going to miss her.
After Bible class last Wednesday, a little celebration was held in honor of the graduates. One couldn't attend, but here's a picture of Trent, Michael, and me:
And Daddy, Ginny, and me:
I'm really going to miss her, too.
One last thing. I've known all year that as salutatorian, I would have to speak tonight at graduation. I really thought I could pass it up (or make a B in Pre-Cal, so the next in line could speak). But I knew God wanted me to do this. What I have to say is simple, but glorifying to my God. I have been praying that it goes well. Thanks to many friends, I have been thinking on these verses:
"Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth." ~Psalm 115:1.
"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous hand." ~Isaiah 41:10. (God was speaking to His people Israel in the Old Testament, but it encourages and comforts me; Romans 15:4).
"Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." ~Colossians 3:17.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline." ~2 Timothy 1:7.
I'm so thankful for this whole past year, and so thankful He has brought me to this point. I hope and pray tonight goes well...for His glory.

Hannah, Hannah, Hannah...I'm going to gush, but know that it comes straight from the heart! You are SO special. Your dedication, interest, and sincerity in serving the Lord in every aspect (school, teaching kids about the Bible, friends, chicken cookies (ha!) all proclaim humility and a zest for living life with Jesus!!!
ReplyDeleteI prayed for you this evening, and I hope that your graduation was an event that turns into a very special memory! Can't wait to hear how your speech went!
I'm going to have to "borrow" (steal seems so rude! LOL) the idea about the scrolls!!! So, so cute!
